Our Love Is Here To Stay - Gays and Musicals (by John B.
Kenrick)
“The connection
between gays and musicals is more than just a humorous stereotype. It is an
abiding reality that has survived the cultural changes of the last two
centuries. These essays take an affectionate look at this much neglected
topic.”
A hugely valuable resource – as well
as being a highly entertaining, authoritative, concise and easily accessible
document. Just one element of the broad picture the site paints of the
“musicals” genre.

Garrie Maguire’s "To Have And To
Hold"
Garrie
Maguire is a Sydney based photographic artist. His exhibition "To Have
And To Hold" was a feature at the Brisbane Powerhouse Centre for the
Live Arts during June/July 2001. Photos of 44 Sydney men, posed as they
themselves chose, are accompanied by each man’s written statement completing "What
I require in a partner is…" The website gives you the choice of
reading the statements before viewing the associated photo. This important and
entertaining work helps blow away preconceived ideas of what being a gay man is
all about.
Quentin Crisp Tribute (by Phillip Ward)
"Quentin Crisp had a notoriety that was his, and his alone: He
dared to "be" himself in London in a time when men like him were
viciously beaten on street corners and publicly scorned for being themselves.
It is an enduring testimony to Mr. Crisp¹s spirit and indomitable sense of self
that he survived the almost daily onslaughts of anti-gay violence and
intolerance."

Dr Evelyn Hooker – in Memoriam
"Evelyn Hooker, Ph.D., published the first empirical research to
challenge the prevailing psychiatric assumption that homosexuality was a mental
illness. Her work was the cornerstone for an entire body of research that
ultimately led to removal of "homosexuality" from the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Her courage, insight, and integrity
have inspired social scientists, mental health professionals, human rights
activists, and people around the world." This site has very
comprehensive reference links – including the distributors of the film
"Changing Our Minds".
