October (
2000 is the inaugural year for a Coming Out Day in the UK, in which a
cooperative effort by 42 organisations provide a 24
hour long telephone counselling and referral service,
through one contact number, across England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland. This

a confidential and safe environment to discuss their feelings. This service is
being provided by trained and experienced volunteers.

yourself but you are helping to educate those around you and enable them to
become "straight but not narrow."
